Troubleshooting Brother printer hardware problems
Inspect the Brother printer cable
If your Brother printer cable is not working, your device will show connection errors. Go to the printer and remove the cable from both devices. Now check the cable for any damage. Sometimes, the user uses another cable (phone cable) for connecting the printer. Your printer will show errors because it can’t work on low-speed cables. Get a high-speed printer cable for the connection. Use the cable to connect the printer and PC. If your printer is showing the same error then check the USB port of the PC. You should use another port for printer connection.
Check the printhead of your Brother printer
If the printhead is not moving correctly; you will get printing issues. The error mainly appears when the printhead is clogged. You have to clean the printhead of your device regularly. This printhead gets clogged with the dry ink. To clean the printhead, check the printer’s utility function. Select the Clean Printhead option and clean the printhead 3-4 times. Now take a new print out and check whether the printhead is cleaned or not. If the printhead is still not moving correctly then clean the printhead manually. Go to the printer and check the printhead. Now take a lint-free cloth and put some drops of cleaner. Clean the printhead manually and wait until it dries. Now reinsert the printhead carefully and now your printer will start working correctly.
Repair the printer driver
Sometimes my Brother printer keeps going offline due to a corrupted printer driver. Your Brother printer requires a driver to work correctly. Without this driver, your printer can’t communicate with the PC. To fix this error, go to your computer and open the drivers’ folder. Now check for your Brother printer driver. If you have the driver then check for its update. Run the update and your Brother printer will start working correctly. But if you don’t have the correct printer driver then install it. Go to the printer and check the model name. Now install the correct driver and reconnect the printer. After reconnecting, your printer will start taking your print commands.
Check for paper jam
If the printer rollers of your device are not moving correctly then check for the paper jam. This error mostly occurs when the roller draws multiple pages at once and now the printer is facing a jam. Go to the printer and check for any paper chunks. Remove all paper chunks and other junk from your printer. Clean the printer and rollers. Now remove all the pages from the input tray and align them correctly. Reinstall the input tray and now try to take your printouts.
Check the installed cartridges
Your printer can’t take the printouts if it can’t read the cartridges. Go to the printer and check for the installed cartridges. Eject all the installed cartridges from your device. Now check other cartridges for any damage. Make sure that the pins are touching the contacts. Reinstall the cartridges and now check for any errors.
Sometimes, you can get errors when you are using a third-party cartridge. Third-party cartridges are cheaper but can show issues. Your Brother printer may not read those cartridges. Replace those cartridges with the original ones. If you can’t purchase the original cartridges every time then try refilling it. Buy good quality ink and refill the original Brother printer cartridge. After refilling, shake the cartridge and close the lid tightly. Now reinstall it carefully to the printer and now check and try to take the printouts.
Inspect the printer fuser
The fuser of your printer is a crucial part as it fuses the ink to the paper. This fuser uses heat and pressure to fuse the ink. But when the user takes the printouts simultaneously for a long time; the printhead gets overheated and stops working. You have to wait until the printhead cools down. If you try to take printouts, the fuser may get burnt. Wait for a while and then try to take the printouts. In case the fuser is burnt then you have to replace it. Check the Brother printer model and purchase the fuser. Install the new fuser to your Brother printer and now check for any error.
