8 Games That Pushed The Boundaries In The Last 10 Years

There are so many games out there that it’s hard to come up with something really new. But these books were able to do it.

When you play a video game, you will probably see things you’ve seen in other games. For example, many games have fast travel, waypoints, side tasks, and all kinds of other features. So, most of the time, the quality of a title comes down to how well it uses ideas that have already been used.

This doesn’t mean that this developer plan should be criticized, since there’s nothing wrong with using general ideas that others have made. And there are always ways to put your own stamp on something. Still, it’s great to see games do things that no other game has ever done. This is getting harder to do because there are so many games now, but the following games did it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 – Talk To Anyone

In open-world games, there are usually a lot of NPCs moving around and going about their business. They’re just there to make the world look like it’s alive and moving.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, you can talk to these people without names, so you can find out more about them. And you can talk to more than just a few of them. You can talk to or insult anyone you find in the game, and they will react to what you say. So, you can talk to them for a short time.

The Medium – Dual Reality Split-Screen

The split-screen mode for a single person is the first thing that stands out about The Medium. The screen splits in half, letting you see and communicate with two different worlds at the same time. Everything you do in one happens in the other. For example, if you shimmied across a ledge in one world, the same thing would happen in the other.

It’s not the only game where you can see into different worlds, but in others you can’t do both at the same time. In fact, because the creators of The Medium copyrighted the split-screen dual reality feature, no one is legally allowed to do it.

Ghost Of Tsushima – Guiding Wind

In any open world, you’re likely to see a waypoint or a goal marker that tells you where to go. People think these are pretty important in these kinds of games because without them, it would be hard to know where to go.

On the other hand, big, obvious marks can take away from the beauty of a well-made world. Ghost Of Tsushima shows you where to go in a unique and different way. It moves with the help of the wind. You can make a strong gust of wind that blows you in the right way whenever you get lost.

Super Mario Odyssey – Cap Possession

Games have had the power to take over other people and animals for a long time. Still, it’s generally done with magic spells or by hacking into robots. In no other game but Super Mario Odyssey could you just throw your hat on someone and take over.

Another unusual thing about this type of possession is that you can control more than just animals. Mario can take control of inanimate things like pylons and figures and move them. It gives the hero a power that can be used in many different ways.

Splatoon – Ink Reloading

In games, there are different ways to restart, but nothing like what you see in Splatoon. You don’t shoot guns in this kid-friendly shooter. Instead, you shoot ink.

You can get rid of your stock of the deadly stuff by changing into a squid and swimming through the ink that has already been splattered on the map. When you do this, your weapon is quickly refilled, getting you ready to fight again. This feature is only in the Splatoon games, and it’s unlikely to be added to other games because it wouldn’t make sense in most of them.

Death Stranding – Social Strand System

Death Stranding is one of the most creative and different games ever made. Even Hideo Kojima said that his game created a new type of game. The Social Strand System is one of the things that makes Doodle Baseball stand out. This is a way to play with more than one person in a single-player game.

The way it works is that someone can leave things or build buildings in their game that other people in their own game can use. For example, a player can build a bridge that someone else can walk across over a dangerous place. There have been other single-player games where people could send each other gifts or notes to talk to each other. But none of them have worked as well as the Social Strand System from Death Stranding. It’s an interesting idea.

Shadow Of Mordor – Nemesis System

Even though Shadow of Mordor is a great game as a whole, the Nemesis system is definitely its best part. This works as a ranking of enemies. The most powerful ones are at the top, and the weakest ones are at the bottom. Your goal is to get to the enemies that are the most dangerous.

But what’s really interesting is how your opponents are affected by the scheme. If one of the people at the bottom kills you, they move up a level and get a boost to their fighting power. When you see them again, they’ll remember how they beat you and talk about it. It gives your enemies more personality and makes chance fights with them more important.

Watch Dogs: Legion – Recruit And Play As Anyone

image 95

Watch Dogs Legion is different from the first two games in the series because it doesn’t have a main character. You don’t play as a single person. Instead, you play as the group DedSec as a whole, and you control one member at a time. That’s not typical for an open-world action-adventure game, but it’s not the only thing about the game that makes it stand out.

The most unique thing about Watch Dogs: Legion is that you can pick up anyone off the street and put them in DedSec. So, any NPC you see going around could be a character you can play as. You can control them during tasks and while you’re exploring the open world, and they also talk in cutscenes. So, after choosing your starting operator, you can put together a group of random people to fight the bad groups you face in the main story.
