Darkest Dungeon 2 is a tough indie game, and these bosses are some of the best and hardest that players can face.
The Darkest Dungeon series is known for being extremely hard, and players who are having trouble shouldn’t feel bad about it. The game is hard, and players will lose even if they make small mistakes. Even when players think they’re doing well, the game will throw them a curveball and catch them off guard.
But some bosses in Darkest Dungeon 2 are harder to beat than others, and players will have to scratch their heads to figure out how to beat them. The game can be very hard at times, but that just makes every win that much more rewarding.
Dreaming General

For new players, the learning curve for The Dreaming General can be very steep, and it can take a while to figure out how to play it. In three stages, the boss will call up roots that will slow down the party members. Once it has three stacks, players won’t be able to move or use any skills. They will only be able to take stress. If everyone in the group is stopped, the boss will use a powerful move that hits everyone. Then, they’ll be set free and go back to one stack of root. The boss will also cause players to bleed, so they should make sure they have Bleed Heals and Bleed Resist Trinkets on them.
Players should shoot for the Tap Root. Hitting it will get rid of two stacks of the root, and players should try not to let the root build up in the first place. AoE moves are especially useful in this fight because they count as a hit on the Tap Root even if they don’t do any damage. Combat items that hit the Tap Root also count as hits, so it’s important for the party to have plenty of them before the battle starts.
Shambler

The Shambler is very dangerous because it can’t be predicted. It can show up in different ways, and if players aren’t ready for it, it can ruin their run. If the player’s light level is less than 30, normal road battles are one way. A hero can also find it by talking to a Shambler’s Altar in an Academic’s Study. They can also show up more than once in Snake Game. The Shambler is especially dangerous because if a player is already at a low light level by accident, they are probably already in a bad spot and the last thing they need is a boss fight.
One of the best ways to beat this beast is to bring a lot of skills that deal damage over time. The Shambler will constantly send out Shambler Tentacles that can hurt heroes. Any tentacles that are killed will come back. This means that it’s not worth your turn to attack them. Players can instead use effects like Bleed, Blight, and Burn on them and put the rest of their attention on the Shambler. Even though meeting the Shambler is dangerous, there are a lot of benefits that might make it worth it.
Leviathan

The Leviathan might be one of the hardest lair bosses in Darkest Dungeon 2, and you should try to avoid him if you can. It will hit a group with a lot of negative effects, then follow up with a powerful attack that affects a large area. If that wasn’t enough, the boss can also grab one of the party members and make them useless until the rest of the party can beat the hand. The hand will bother the party by pushing the heroes around, pulling them underwater, and hurting them.
Players can stop this from happening, though, by making sure they have a lot of Move and Debuff resistance before the boss so they are ready for its main trick. It’s hard to get enough Move resists to make this a reliable way, though. Players should bring high-damage dealers that can destroy the hand in one or two shots. If they don’t, their party will fall behind.
Ravenous Reach

The Ravenous Reach is the 4th and last Mountain boss in Darkest Dungeon 2. It has a lot of steps that can really mess up a team if they aren’t ready. The first and second stages aren’t too hard because it has low health and resistance, and each round has three attacks. This means it’s pretty easy to kill with powers that do damage over time. But its main ability is to move people around in the party, which can put some of them in very dangerous situations if the player doesn’t act quickly.
The third phase is without a question the hardest. The boss’s resistance drops to a more balanced level, but it can still cause Horror and Bleed on party members and take away any good traits they have. It can also Riposte any strikes that come at it. This is especially dangerous because, at this point in the fight, many players will be fighting to keep their party’s health up. They will have to decide whether to take the attacks or heal up to give the boss more time to heal itself. Man-at-Arms can be very helpful here because Bellow can get rid of Riposte.
Before going into this fight, players should make sure they have Bellow, a strong resistance to Death’s Door, Stress heals, and some Bleed/Blight. The boss is a glass gun. At each stage, it has low health, but it can do a lot of damage that can wipe out groups that aren’t ready.
Body Of Work

The Body of Work is the fifth and last Mountain boss in Darkest Dungeon 2, and it is also the most difficult. It has three different parts that players have to fight through to beat it, and the last one is a very hard but definitely epic boss fight.
First Phase
The first phase is the easiest. It has 200 HP, pretty good Resistances all around, and is completely immune to Blight. The boss can move heroes around, lock them in place, and hurt them with Gastric Juice, which gives them 3 Blight per turn. Unfortunately, it can also put fear on more than one target at the same time, giving players a lot to deal with. Fire and bleed, which both have a resistance of 40, are the two things that hurt the boss the most. This is still a pretty high number, but if people can use them, it’s a good way to start reducing its health.
Second Phase
In the second part, players have to face a really ugly monster made out of eyeballs. It also has 200 HP, but its protection to Blight is only 40, which is much lower. This boss can give heroes a lot of Stress, but its main trick is that it can steal buffs and good traits from heroes and use them for itself. To make this fight easier, players should avoid giving their characters buffs and make sure their heroes’ Stress is well taken care of. Jester is a great choice if you want to deal with stress.
Third Phase
The third and last step is by far the hardest. The boss has a ridiculous 1000 HP and can use different debuffs that stop a player’s heroes from using certain skills, like fighting, ranged, stress heal, and heals. It also spawns Cherubs called “Proclaimers” that are very strong and can do damage over time. These Cherubs can appear in both the front and back ranks. To move on to the next level, all of these Proclaimers must be killed at once. Players may have trouble if their heroes get a debuff that makes it impossible for them to use their skills. This could make it impossible for them to get rid of the Proclaimers.
After beating the Proclaimers, players have to choose one of their heroes to Face Their Fears. The boss will then summon the main enemy from the background of the chosen hero. This enemy will only attack the chosen hero, and the same is true for the chosen hero. Players will have to do this four times, with each enemy killed taking away 1/5 of the boss’s HP. During the “Face Your Failure” parts, the other heroes will chip away at your last 200 HP. There are so many things you need to do to get ready for this boss that it can throw off even the most calm players.
Darkest Dungeon 2 can now be played on PC.
