Some of the DLC for Crusader Kings 3 has been a letdown, but others have added good things to the game. Which add-ons should you buy?
Crusader Kings 3 by Paradox Interactive is a very interesting management game where players take control of whole families over many generations and try to run and maybe even grow their mediaeval kingdom. Like many other Paradox games, a long list of DLCs are slowly added to the game over the years after it comes out. There will always be new things to do in the game, and every few months, there will be a chance to re-market it.
Some players like this business plan because they think it keeps them interested in the games, but others have called the developers “cash-grabbers” because they don’t always think the DLC is worth the price. Because of this, it can be hard for younger players to know which DLCs are worth downloading and which might be a waste of money because they don’t add much more than cosmetic changes. Here is a full ranking of all of the Crusader Kings 3 DLCs that have been released so far. More DLCs are planned for the future as well.
Friends And Foes
The DLC for Crusader Kings 3 called “Friends and Foes” is the cheapest and, perhaps, least well-liked one so far. The DLC was made to change how characters connect with each other and how they relate to their families. Many players have reported bugs and problems with it, as well as some game-breaking mechanics that the developers still need to fix.
Others have said that the DLC is almost invisible and doesn’t add enough to the game to make up for its low price. So, for now, Friends and Foes is not a must-have, at least until some changes are made to fix these problems.
Fate Of Iberia
The “Flavour Pack” for Fate of Iberia is, perhaps not surprisingly, mostly about the fight between Christianity and Islam in the Iberian area. This will mostly affect groups that are in or near the area. It won’t have much of an effect on factions that are far away. The update adds new clothing and items for the area, mostly of Islamic origin. This really helps bring to life the cultural battle between the two religions, which can still be seen in the ruins and monuments of Andalusia.
In addition to these changes to the way the game looks, there is a new feature called “Struggle” that will keep players on edge as they try to keep their church in control of the area. Unfortunately, some players have said that this mechanic doesn’t work right. They say that even if all of Hispania is conquered and held, the war can’t be over.
Northern Lords
The Northern Lords DLC is another flavour pack, this time focusing on the Northern kingdoms. Players who prefer the Southern and Eastern groups won’t notice too many changes to the game, though. But if you play as a Norse lord or a king or queen from a country close to the Norse, this will add a lot more depth and immersion to your character models. Both commoners and nobles will be able to wear new clothes and crowns.
There is also new music and planned events to help players get a better feel for Norse culture and make these factions stand out from the other European factions in the game. As a tribute to the pioneering and exploring spirit of the Norse, a new “Varangian Adventure” mechanic will also allow players in Norse groups to move their realm and take over new lands.
Tours And Tournaments
The most recent important addition to Crusader Kings 3 is the Tours and Tournaments update.It adds a lot of new tasks and events that give players more options for what they can do in the game. As a first step, Tournaments, Tours, and Weddings have been added to the list of events, which already included Feasts, Hunts, and Pilgrimages. Each of these things will lead to more events and exchanges, which will add to the story of each character and give them new perks and traits.
Tournaments are a lot of fun and can be changed in many different ways. The skills of the characters will be put to the test in different events, such as singing and jousting. A brand-new 3D view of the town has been added to these events, making players feel even more immersed and connected to their kingdom.
Royal Court
The Royal Court DLC adds some of the most important content of any DLC, and once it’s added, it’s hard to imagine 8 Ball Pool game without it. This expansion pack is by far the best choice for new players who aren’t sure which DLC to buy first. It adds the Court’s mechanics and animations as well as a number of new challenges and events. Royal Court is also an expansion by Paradox Games towards more 3D scenes and interactions, which is a welcome addition and makes players feel even closer to their kingdom and their subjects.
In addition to being able to “Hold Court,” which gives players a series of problems to solve, they can pay for “Inspirations” and send courtiers out to make or find new artefacts, some of which can be put on show in the Royal Court. The Crusader Kings 3: Royal Edition lets you buy this game, along with Northern Lords and Fate of Iberia.
