Smart robot vacuums, or “robotics,” are among the most popular mainly because they can “talk” to your smartphone and other gadgets and can link to your home network. This allows you to conveniently and effectively operate every element of your cleaning device with your smartphone. This is, after all, the reason you want a robot to function on its own.
Following our extensive testing of several hundred robot vacuums, we have determined that there are two primary methods for pairing your Robovac with your phone: first, install the application for the Roomba setup, and then employ it to link your smartphone with the robot cleaner. Let’s talk more about these steps.
Launch Robot Vacuum App
The app you download could vary substantially based on the brand of robot cleaner you own iRobot will be the brand we use to demonstrate the methods to you.
Navigate to the app store on your mobile device, browse for iRobot Home, grab the app, and then execute the installation instructions. If they’re previously installed, check if you have the latest and most recent version by accessing the manufacturer’s website. iOS 13 or later is needed to use the Roborock app on iOS. It requires OS 7.0 or later for Android.
Steps for irobot home app setup
Step 1
Initially, confirm that the device’s charging station is situated on a flat area.Avoid placing the base close to the stairs for safety’s sake. Make certain there aren’t any barriers on the exterior and an outstanding WiFi signal. A white light will appear to show that it is turned on when you connect it in.
Set the robot on the charging station after it has been switched on. When the ring starts to light up and swirl, you will know it’s on. A tone alerting you to the device’s wakefulness will also sound. By associating it to the same SSID as the robot, connect your mobile device to the same network.Ensure that the internet is accessible to you.
Step 2
Switch your smartphone’s Bluetooth on.If the app detects that it isn’t turned on yet, it will notify you. You might be prompted to provide location services in certain iRobot models. During the setup process, Bluetooth needs to be able to locate the robots, which is another standard security feature.
Step 3
Upon completion of the initial configuration, “Roomba” will be displayed in the iRobot Home App on the mobile device you are using. After evolving this name to anything you like, click “Continue.”
Step 4
The name of the WiFi network to which the robot vacuum has been linked will now show up on the app. Entering the WiFi password will allow you to verify if this is the network you wish to connect to.Before proceeding to the final step, validate that you have typed the password correctly. Please click the box on the screen and select “Continue” if you don’t need a password.
Step 5
To enable the device to locate the robot, this last step will activate the internal WiFi network of the robot vacuum. The actions listed below can be completed automatically by your Roomba; you don’t need to do them yourself for the Roomba setup.
Once the robot is positioned on its base, simultaneously press and hold the “Home” and “Spot Clean” buttons until a sound is generated. You will receive an alert in the app asking you to confirm that you have finished the preceding step. After checking the box, click “Continue.”The robotic must now be located by the smartphone app. Try again after restarting the bot if not. To help your phone find the cleaner, you should also disable the firewall on the router. To proceed, simply hit the box and choose “Continue” from the menu. A password is not required.
