Wouldn’t you like to see through a little hole what interior designers’ houses are like? Will they apply the same premises that they use to create their projects or rather that of “at the blacksmith’s house…”? We spoke with the interior designer Lucía Fiat to give us some clue about what her deco life is like. By the way, we asked her about her 5 essentials for a well-decorated house. Take good note!
- Choose a harmonious color palette
For online furniture Australia, color is one of the elements to which we must pay greater attention when designing a space. And, as you know, colors have the ability to arouse emotions. So that they are always positive, he recommends that we always use a color scheme that is harmonious.
To achieve a harmonious color combination, you can use the color wheel and mix three consecutive shades from a main color that, of course, must be your favorite! The result of applying this technique is a calm color palette without strong contrasts, suitable for environments that seek a calm atmosphere.
- Mix textures in materials and textiles
… And do it, especially, in monochrome spaces or spaces created from neutral colours. Introducing different textures in the materials (treated wood combined with other untreated ones, metals, ceramics…) and in the textiles (chenille in the upholstery, cotton in the cushions, linen in the curtains, and jute in the rugs…) we achieve a larger space. Dynamic. Thus, the decoration is enriched without having to resort to a lot of decorative objects that can overload the environment and create a lot of visual noise.
- Choose an element and make it the protagonist
Is there anything at home that you especially value? It does not necessarily have to be an object with sentimental value. It can simply be a corner of the house that you find especially beautiful and that you like to be in because it makes you feel good. Find yours and highlight it! It can be done very easily by introducing a point of directed light.
For example, if you have hung some decorative plates that you have made yourself, you can illuminate them with an ambient light bulb. By the way! Ceramics is in fashion and it is a craft with which, in addition to coping with stress, you can create very cool decorative objects.
- Give personality to the space with an element that represents you
Actually, everything you have at home must have a value for you (functional, emotional or aesthetic). However, there are some details that help us feel that our house is much more ours. For Lucía, it is important that you leave an element that represents you or that is part of your daily life on display: they can be well-framed photographs creating a composition, a recovered or inherited object or any other decorative element that is very much you.
- Mirrors as a versatile object
The use of mirrors to multiply and disperse light so that it bathes an entire room is a basic resource that we often underestimate. Strategically placed -especially in small spaces- they are an infallible ally with which to increase the luminosity and, as a consequence, wrought iron, gain visual amplitude in the rooms.
- Plants: a spectacular decoration element with many benefits
They provide color, they are beautiful, decorative and, best of all, they provide benefits for the body. Can you ask for anything more from a deco element? Introducing plants is one of the most effective resources with which to get a beautiful house that breathes well. Don’t worry about care: there are some species -such as the Sansevieria or the Potus- that are not going to ask you for almost anything but are very, very showy.
