1. Seaport Village
Seaport Village’s seashore features over 70 boutiques, museums, and restaurants. It’s close to the USS Split and an excellent place to relax while viewing the ships in the port. Wander the cobblestone walks, watch the sunsets, and join tours from here, such as Seal Watching. This charming beach community also hosts live entertainment.
2. Hit the beach!
San Diego offers 31 stunning beaches to select from. Some are ideal for families, while others can be quite unsafe due to notorious rips. 3. Little Italy
It is best known because of the Small Italy Mercato Farmers’ Marketplace, which occurs on both Wednesday and Saturday. It takes place on pedestrianized W Date Street between India and Colombia Streets from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. And attracts San Diego residents looking for produce and artisan products. (A Sunday market is also held downtown in Chula Vista at the Third Avenue Village Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

4. Padres game
Attending an event happens to be one of the most fun activities to do when visiting a new location. My husband and I enjoy live sports and aim to include a game wherever we go. We even traveled to Chicago to watch the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team play. Twice! Among the Flyers from Philadelphia as well as the New York Yankees. The Padres’ MLB home is the beautiful Petco Stadium. It has held concerts by the Rolling Stones, Madonna, The Eagles, and other big names.
5. Cabrillo National Monument
For those of us who are unfamiliar with Spanish terminology, it is pronounced Cab-reee-oh. There is also a lighthouse up here, and the views are stunning. Plan to spend a couple of hours to a half day – even carry a picnic. Make the opportunity to go around the cliffs and down to the beach during low tide to explore the tidal gardens. This involves Joshua Tree National Park, found near Palm Springs.
6. Belmont Park
Belmont Park is an excellent spot for the entire family! This waterfront park is San Diego’s seaside theme park, located on Mission Beach. It’s best known for the historic Giant Dipper roller coaster (which first opened in 1925). But it also offers all of the boardwalk’s favorite food and attractions for a wonderful day out! There are also many eateries serving burgers, tacos, and beers (yep, dippin’ dots!) Parking and entry are free, but you pay for the rides.
