As we all know about the land of God that is Kerala. There are many places in Kerala as tourist spots but on the other side whole of Kerala has the power to magnetize people and one of the most beautiful tourist spots in Kerala is Kovalam. Kovalam is a coastal city which is about 13km away from Thiruvananthapuram. The place is mesmerizing like the manmade monument of the Taj Mahal sunrise tour but this place is famous for peace, the art of nature, beaches, and ayurvedic massage. There are many more in this travel blog to know about the beautiful place.
Kovalam has three beaches the largest beach is Lighthouse Beach which features a 30mt tall lighthouse and the remaining beaches are Hawa and Samudra. The shape of all three beaches is crescent-shaped shallow with low tidal waves. Previously a fishing village, Kovalam began to attract tourists in the 1930s and gained prominence in the hippie era of the 1970s. Till now tourists have come to see Kovalam from Europe and Israel. Kovalam is like the full circle as a tourist destination because along with the shopping points like handicrafts, wooden statues, and spices you can easily involve and evolve yourself in cultural activities, ayurvedic treatments, massage, meditation, etc. is one of the most popular indulgences of Kovalam.
Many other tourist spots attract you such as the Kovalam houseboat, catamaran ride, Parasurama temple, Vizhinjam marine aquarium, Artificial shore coral reef, Kovalam art gallery, Veli tourist village, water activities with surfing, Halcyon castle, etc. The nightlife is also pretty good in Kovalam but not as much as attractive to see the night view of the Taj Mahal. For the night visit, you should be aware of the guidelines and Taj Mahal timing. It is fine because everything has its beauty but you will find local traditional food with seafood that is more loved by Israel and European tourists.
Best Time To Visit:
The pleasant weather in Kovalam is from September to March. Kovalam has also experienced heavy rainfall during the monsoon period from June to August. In the summer period, you can visit if you want but we will not advise you because of high humidity from April to May.
How To Reach
All three ways to reach are activated but Kovalam doesn’t have its own airport and railway stations the road is connected with the cities and private vehicles and government vehicles are available all the time. The nearest airport is the Trivandrum International Airport and after that pick a vehicle to reach the tourist point which is 15km from the airport. The nearest railway station is also Thiruvananthapuram Central which is 16km away from the Kovalam.
