The Toronto Caribana Carnival is back with all of its infectious vibes. The street carnival is an ode to the Emancipation of Slavery, with its first edition being held in 1967 during Canada’s Centennial celebrations. Today, it is the largest cultural gathering in North America that celebrates Caribbean music, dance, costumes, food, traditions, and culture. Millions of tourists flock to Toronto every year to witness the Grand Parade and the various events held across the city.
If you’re new to Toronto or are visiting the city during the carnival, here’s all you need to know before you go.
Highlights of the Toronto Caribana Carnival 2023
This year was the 56th edition of the Toronto Caribana Carnival. The best events during the carnival were:

The Grand Parade is like the grand finale of the carnival, where thousands of participants come together to perform from Exhibition Place to Lakeshore Boulevard. From masquerade costume dancers to steelpan and Calypso artists, everybody revels during the Grand Parade.
- King and Queen Showcase
The leaders of all participating Mas bands compete in costume pageantry for the title of King and Queen. Watch them showcase their talent and creative costumes.
- Carnival Ball
The carnival Ball is where the whole Caribbean community including all participants, volunteers, and the organizers come together for a ball party.
- Barcode’s Annual Caribana Party
The hottest nightclub party of the Caribana carnival goes down at Barcode Saturdays. We host our annual affair to celebrate the glory of the Caribbean islands with themed food and drinks, live hip-hop and Soca music, premium bottle services, unmatched party favors, and much more.
This year, we hosted our Caribana party on the night of the Grand Parade, where celebrities, socialites, influencers, and tourists had a complete banger. If you’re heading to the next year’s carnival, be sure not to miss our annual Toronto Caribana party.
